FEATURE DOES NOT EXIST, VIBE CODE IT!

These days when I see a feature that doesn’t exist on any platform, I say to myself “It is an opportunity to vibe code it.” Today was one of those days. Cut & Move (aka Cut & Paste) does not exist in the MacOS Finder to move files around. Why? Simple, Apple is being overly cautious. Of course there are numerous apps that add this feature to MacOS but why buy them when I can vibe code something better. As my former father-in-law, John Calvert [RIP], once told me, “You either do something that nobody else does or something better than everybody else.” In this case, it was an opportunity for me to write, i.e. vibe code, an extension to the MacOS Finder to add the functionality.INTRODUCING CUT & MOVE
I literally have a few hours before my flight back to Boston so I decided to use the latest Gemini 3 to vibe code a MacOS application using Visual Studio Code, Xcode, and GitHub Copilot for Xcode. It took all of 35 minutes to get it exactly the way I wanted it to work and another 20 minutes to get icons and an installer going. Gemini guided me 100% through the entire process.
If I didn’t have experience, this would have taken me much, much, much longer. Just being honest. This is what I am constantly seeing with vibe coding. Experienced developers can vibe code something 10000% times faster or even at all using AI. So what did we do with AI? We created the entire application code, icons, logos, and installer images. What did AI do? It guided me step by step through the process of creating the application. When it didn’t do well, all I did was take a picture and say “Fix this” or “Change this” or “Make this better”.
